Conceptualizing Teacher Leadership: Issues and Evidence

Abstract

This chapter explores several definitions of teacher leadership to describe the complexity of the area. It then links teacher and middle leadership research, and utilizing these two rich research areas, provides six trustworthy claims about teacher leadership related to definition, impact, interventions, leadership focus identification, and supports and hindrances. Policy, practice, and future research directions are described.
